Run a matching challenge
Set the match amount, choose what it applies to, and control how it appears on screen.
A matching challenge is a donor promising to match what the room gives, up to a cap. Pledge Pal tracks how much of that match has been unlocked as the pledges come in.
- 1
Turn it on
Open Event Setup and switch on Matching challenge. Everything below appears once it's on, and nothing shows on the Auctioneer or Audience screens until it is.

Set the amount and the name
Enter the maximum the donor will match — that's the cap. Give it a name the room will recognize, such as “The Miller Family Match”. The name is what appears on screen.

Choose what it applies to
Whole Fund-a-Need means every pledge counts toward unlocking the match. One level only counts pledges at the level you pick. A level and everything below it counts that level plus every lower level — useful when a donor wants to lift the smaller gifts.

Choose how it's displayed
Its own panel shows the match as a separate progress panel. Folded into the total adds the unlocked match dollars straight into the big total. Both does each. You can also hide it on the Auctioneer view, the Audience view, or either one independently.

Watch it unlock live
As pledges land, the panel shows how much of the match is unlocked and how much is still on the table — a useful line for the auctioneer to call out.

Good to know
- The match never counts more than the cap, no matter how much the room gives.
- Announce the match before the level it applies to — the unlocked figure updates as pledges come in.
- If you change the match amount mid-appeal, every screen updates immediately.
